Bermudian karter Scott Barnes has had a sensational weekend at the SKUSA Spring Nationals in Ohio, a major event on the Superkarts! USA Pro Tour. Barnes competed in the Masters Shifter Class, and the action across both days was packed with drama and excitement.
On Day One, Barnes qualified strongly and battled his way to the front in the Final after a thrilling start from the second row. He led for a significant portion of the 20-lap race, engaging in a fierce duel with Scott Presti. Barnes ultimately crossed the line in second place, just fractions of a second behind Presti, clocking a time of 18 minutes and 10.354 seconds. However, the drama didn’t end at the chequered flag. Following a review of a protest by race officials, Presti was subsequently disqualified. This decision elevated Scott Barnes to the winner’s step of the podium, handing him a hard-fought victory in the Masters Shifter Class.
Undeterred by the previous day’s drama, Barnes was back on track for Day Two, aiming to build on his victory. He once again showed impressive pace in the Masters Shifter Class Final. The race saw another close contest, this time with Presti again emerging as the victor. Barnes pushed hard throughout the 20 laps, ultimately securing a strong second-place finish with a time of 18 minutes and 8.390 seconds.
