Ahead of a community dialogue event, Glenn Fubler says reparations is about ‘restoring aspects of our humanity’

As we approach the anniversary of Emancipation, the topic of reparations will be discussed in a community event at the Anglican Cathedral.
On Tuesday July 29th at 6pm, legal and moral perspectives of reparations will be examined by Attorney General Kim Wilkerson, lawyer Wendell Hollis, Government’s Director of Academics Llewellen Simmons, and Imagine Bermuda’s Glenn Fubler.
A media release from Imagine Bermuda notes that those involved – particularly those who serve in Government – will be addressing the matter of reparations strictly through a personal lens.
Glenn Fubler joined Gary Foster Skelton today, and said that a discussion about reparations should not simply focus on a so-called ‘dollar value’, but consider the overall impact of past events on our present humanity:
Mr Fubler went on to highlight that the matter of reparations was brought up in a different context just this week.
The United Nations’ highest court told wealthy countries to reduce pollution in line with international commitments.
Judge Yuji Iwasawa, President of the International Court of Justice, said failure in this area could result in “full reparations to injured states”:
