Steering at-risk youth away from crime

Attorney General says plans to utilise and amend parental responsibility laws will focus on support and prevention

Government is looking at ways to provide more support for parents with children who demonstrate anti-social behaviors, as well as holding them liable if they fail to take reasonable responsibility for their children.

Following the Premier’s announcement last week that the Parental Responsibility Act will be reviewed, Attorney General and Minister of Justice Kim Wilkerson met with stakeholders and senior judiciary to discuss what might be needed.

Speaking to Gary Foster Skelton today, AG Wilkerson said the focus is on prevention, and finding positive ways to direct youth away from what could potentially become criminal behaviours in adulthood. (WATCH ABOVE)
