Premier Burt alongside Mrs. Paulette Codrington
Family, friends and community members gathered on Sunday, November 10, 2025, to celebrate the 100th birthday of Mrs. Pearl Codrington, affectionately known as “Ma Pearl.”
Nearly 80 guests visited the family homestead, Camber House, throughout the day, including the Premier and representatives from across the political spectrum – a reflection of the deep respect she holds across the island.
“It was an honour to celebrate Mrs. Codrington’s 100th birthday surrounded by her family and the generations she has raised,” said the Premier. “Her story is one of perseverance, care, and community… Bermuda is better for the love and example she continues to share.”
Highlights of the day included two of her great-grandchildren singing the birthday song and the rare sight of five generations together. Asked how she enjoyed her celebration, Ma Pearl said she “really enjoyed it, especially the food.”
Born on November 10, 1925, to Olive Smith and Samuel Trott, Mrs. Codrington was raised by her grandmother, Rose Smith, after losing her mother at birth. From Daniel’s Head to Manchester Street, then King Street and Boaz Island, she built a life centred on family before settling at Camber House in 1978.
Today, her legacy spans 10 children, 21 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren – all carrying forward her values of family, kindness and perseverance.
