As the holiday season gathers pace, retailers across the island are encouraging residents to “shop Bermuda first” and keep their Christmas spending close to home.
Local businesses are rolling out festive window displays, special offers, and extended hours in the lead-up to Christmas. Shopping locally, they say, not only delivers unique, Bermuda-themed gifts you will not find online, but also helps sustain jobs, support community charities, and keep more dollars circulating in our economy.
To give residents more time to browse, the City of Hamilton has announced a series of late-night shopping evenings this month. Many shops in the City will remain open into the evening on the following dates:
- Thursday, December 11
- Friday, December 12
- Sunday, December 14
- Thursday, December 18
- Friday, December 19
- Sunday, December 21

On these nights, shoppers can expect a festive atmosphere in the city, with decorated storefronts, seasonal music, and plenty of dining options to round out an evening in town.
Retailers are reminding customers that when they choose to buy local – whether it is a gift certificate for a restaurant, a piece of Bermuda art, or a toy from a neighbourhood shop – they are directly supporting Bermudian workers year-round.
Residents are encouraged to plan their gift lists, head into Hamilton on the late night shopping dates, and make this a Christmas that gives back to Bermuda.
