Stetson University have seized control of the Bermuda Triangle Collegiate after a gruelling opening day at Port Royal, where the Atlantic elements pushed a field of 11 schools to their absolute limits.
The iconic Southampton course lived up to its formidable reputation on Monday, with relentless coastal gusts demanding pinpoint accuracy across 36 holes. While many struggled to find their rhythm, Stetson emerged as the class of the field, carving out an eight-shot cushion over second-placed Wofford.
Ailsa Brannock holds the individual clubhouse lead following a masterclass in consistency. The Stetson standout carded back-to-back rounds of 73 to finish at four-over par—a remarkable scorecard given the deteriorating conditions. She is closely shadowed by Wofford’s Bella Kent, who sits just one stroke back after firing a brilliant afternoon 72, the low round of the day.
For the local galleries, attention remains firmly fixed on Bermudian talent Sienna Mosquera. Competing for Lehigh University, Mosquera sits in a tie for 29th at 19-over par, helping the Mountain Hawks into sixth place in the team standings. As the golfers prepare for the final round, all eyes will be on whether the chasing pack can make any inroads on a Stetson side that appears perfectly at home in the challenging Bermuda breeze.
