The pristine sands of Clearwater Beach provided the backdrop for a display of elite endurance as the Bermuda National Triathlon Championships concluded with Olympian Tyler Smith and Kristen Robinson being crowned the island’s premier triathletes.
Competing over the standard Olympic distance of a 1.5km swim, a 40km bike, and a 10km run, the field was pushed to the limit as Bermuda’s top talent vied for national honors.
In the Men’s Division, Tyler Smith demonstrated exactly why he belongs on the world stage with a commanding performance from the first plunge. Smith set a blistering pace in the water, clocking 17:17 for the swim before transitioning into a clinical 59:30 bike leg. He rounded off his morning with a swift 34:20 run to cross the line in 1:51:45.
Rising talent Jackson Langley secured second place in 2:01:15, while Michael Evans rounded out the podium in 2:11:46 after a resilient effort across all three disciplines.
The Women’s Division saw Kristen Robinson deliver a masterclass in consistency to secure the national title. Robinson navigated the water in 25:55 and maintained her lead with a 1:16:57 bike leg. Despite rising temperatures, she produced a 46:21 run to finish in 2:31:16.
Nicole Mitchell claimed the runner-up spot in 2:42:47, having produced the fastest bike split in the women’s field, while Georgia Evans took third in 2:46:36.
The team competition added an extra layer of local rivalry, with Tri-ing Our Best taking top honors in 2:04:13. They were followed by The King is coming – look busy in 2:14:46, who narrowly held off the A-Team in 2:19:27.
The event served as a testament to the thriving multisport community on the island as veteran campaigners and newcomers alike celebrated a successful championship weekend.
