RedHawks stall Goldeyes despite another multi-hit game for Hall

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks avoided a costly three-game series sweep at the hands of their Red River rivals, producing a clinical defensive display to secure a 5-1 victory over Adam Hall and his Winnipeg Goldeyes at Blue Cross Park.

The victory stalls the Goldeyes’ momentum, with the visitors’ pitching staff locking down a potent Winnipeg lineup that had threatened to dominate the series entirely.

Fargo-Moorhead wasted no time asserting authority, striking in the first inning when Dillon Thomas doubled home Jairus Richards. The RedHawks doubled their advantage in the second when Winnipeg starter James Colyer was charged with a balk, allowing Cole Yearsley to score.

A seventh-inning double by Tripp Clark and an eighth-inning, two-run single from Yearsley blew the game open at 5-0. Winnipeg (18-22) finally broke their duck in the bottom of the eighth on a Jiandido Tromp fielder’s choice.

RedHawks starter Kolby Kiser earned the win with five scoreless innings, allowing just four hits. Despite the loss, Bermudian second baseman Adam Hall continued his magnificent individual campaign. Hall collected two hits in the afternoon to push his team-leading batting average to an elite .361.
