Colin Smith Road Race hailed a success

The event served as tribute to the dedication of the island’s custom officers

The Bermuda Customs Department marked International Customs Day 2025 with its Annual Colin Smith Road Race in St. David’s on Tuesday, 28 January, bringing together officers, government employees, and community members for a spirited display of fitness and camaraderie.

International Customs Day, observed worldwide, recognises the crucial role of Customs agencies in border security and economic development. The event saw participation from past and present Customs officers, supporters, and employees from other Government departments.

Collector of Customs Lucinda Pearman highlighted the significance of the event, stating: “The Customs Department is at the forefront of protecting Bermuda’s borders while facilitating trade and economic growth. This race is a cherished tradition that strengthens our team spirit and reminds us of the dedication and resilience required in our service to the island.”

Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Kim Wilkerson, also praised the work of Bermuda’s Customs officers, saying: “Customs officers are the unsung guardians of Bermuda’s borders, ensuring the safety and integrity of our island’s trade. Celebrating their hard work is always a pleasure; this event is a fitting way to highlight their commitment and teamwork.”

The road race not only served as a tribute to the dedication of Bermuda’s Customs officers but also reinforced the importance of physical fitness and community engagement in honouring their service.
