Bermuda’s female stars shine in final NACAC Outdoor Rankings

As the curtain falls on a spectacular 2025 athletics season, the North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletics Association (NACAC) has released its final Female Outdoor Regional Rankings. The update confirms a historic year for Bermudian and Bermuda-resident athletes, with several stars securing prestigious spots among the region’s elite following a string of record-breaking performances.

Leading the charge in the sprint disciplines is Caitlyn Bobb, whose sensational form in the women’s 400 metres has earned her a high regional ranking. Bobb clocked a blistering Bermuda national record of 51.11 seconds at the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships in North Carolina on May 17, establishing herself as a formidable force on the collegiate and international stage. In the middle-distance events, Shayla Cann secured her place in the regional top echelon after a personal best performance of 2:07.89 in Greensboro on May 15.

Meanwhile, veteran distance runner and former Bermuda resident Gayle Lindsay made her presence felt following a successful Island Games campaign in July, where she competed in the 10,000 metres and the half marathon. The field events proved equally fruitful for the island, headlined by a standout season for high jumper Sakari Famous. Famous cleared a Bermuda national record height of 1.85 metres at the Horned Frog Invitational in Texas on May 3, positioning her among the elite high jump standings.

In the throwing circles, Tiara DeRosa broke new ground by becoming a top-ranked discus thrower in the region. She smashed the national record with a toss of 50.07 metres at the National Sports Centre on June 21, officially booking her spot for the 2026 Commonwealth Games. Completing the impressive regional showing is Warwick Academy student Tatiana Sousa, who showcased her talent in the javelin rankings after a powerful throw that earned her a silver medal at the Carifta Games earlier in the year. This collective success highlights a golden era for female athletics in Bermuda as the focus now shifts toward the 2026 international calendar.
