Crime prevention among topics for public meeting tonight

Police to host ‘community clinic’ at Francis Patton School

The Community Policing Division (CPD) of the Bermuda Police Service is inviting residents of the island’s eastern parishes to attend a Community Clinic focused on crime prevention, public safety, and strengthening partnerships between the police and the community.

The event will take place on Tuesday, 30 June, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Francis Patton School.

The clinic will feature presentations from Bermuda Police Service officers covering a range of issues affecting local communities.

Inspector Tiffany Casey of the Criminal Investigation Unit will provide an overview of crime trends and patterns in the eastern parishes, along with practical advice on crime prevention and information on emerging issues of concern to police.

Acting Detective Chief Inspector Mathurin from the Specialist Investigations Department will discuss cyber-enabled crime, offering guidance on common online threats and how residents can better protect themselves.

Acting Inspector Zoenique Williams will examine current drug trends, including the types of drugs circulating within the community and their impact on young people and neighbourhoods.

Acting Inspector Crai-Che Hall will present information on financial crime investigations, highlighting scams and other offences targeting individuals and businesses.

Parish officers will also outline the role of Neighbourhood Watch Groups and encourage the formation of community WhatsApp groups to strengthen communication between residents and the Bermuda Police Service.

The Community Clinic forms part of the Community Policing Division’s ongoing commitment to community engagement as Bermuda enters the summer months. The initiative builds on recent public awareness efforts, including radio interviews encouraging greater cooperation with police and improved victim and witness participation in reporting crime.

Police are encouraging residents to attend the free event, learn more about crime prevention strategies, ask questions, and help strengthen partnerships that contribute to safer communities.
