The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has opened applications for the next edition of its Young Reporters Programme, offering aspiring sports correspondents a unique opportunity to train and report at the pinnacle of international events.
Sixteen young journalists, aged 21–25, will be selected to cover the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games (YOG) in an immersive training programme.
The programme, known for launching careers in sports media, will feature a new format with a strong focus on social media and digital storytelling. Under the guidance of Olympic media professionals, selected reporters will receive comprehensive training in journalism, photography, broadcasting, and social media integration.
Participants will cover all aspects of the Games, from sporting events and mixed-zone operations to cultural activities, building a professional portfolio with international exposure. The most deserving journalist will receive the prestigious Steve Parry Award.
Young professionals fluent in English with a background in journalism or media are invited to apply through the dedicated portal at Olympics.com before the deadline on November 30th.
Since its launch in 2010, the programme has trained 126 journalists from 68 countries, with many advancing to work for major international broadcasters and news agencies.
