Bermuda international Logan Jimenez was the hero as Hibernian Under-19s staged a dramatic late fightback to sink Rangers 4-2 and secure their place in the CAS Elite League Cup semi-finals.
In a pulsating encounter at the Rangers Training Centre, Darren McGregor’s side twice trailed to goals from Calum Adamson and Max Cameron. However, the “wee Hibees” showed immense resilience, with strikes from Callum MacDonald and Josh McDonald keeping the visitors in contention before Jimenez took center stage.
With the match deadlocked at 2-2 and just ten minutes remaining, the Bermudian teenager reacted quickest to a partially cleared corner, firing a first-time effort that squirmed under the Rangers goalkeeper to hand Hibs their first lead of the afternoon.
Jimenez then made sure of the result in the 86th minute, ruthlessly punishing a stray Rangers back-pass. After his initial effort was bravely blocked, he calmly converted the rebound into an unguarded net to seal his double and a famous victory.
The win sees Hibs march into the final four with significant momentum, while Rangers exit at the group stage. For Jimenez, it was a clinical statement of intent as the hunt for silverware enters its defining phase.
