The new season in the Bermuda Football Association’s Women’s Division got underway tonight at the Clyde Best Center of Excellence Field, and it was the Somerset Lady Trojans who drew first blood with a decisive victory.
The Lady Trojans established their dominance early in the match against the PHC Lady Zebras. Katherine Bean-Rosario opened the scoring in the 19th minute, swiftly followed by a second goal just four minutes later from Symira Lowe-Darrell, giving Somerset a comfortable 2-0 lead heading into half-time.
The second half saw Somerset extend their advantage further, with Lowe-Darrell netting her second goal of the game in the 70th minute, making it 3-0. While the PHC Lady Zebras managed to grab a late consolation goal through Jasmine Spence in stoppage time, it wasn’t enough to alter the outcome.
The final whistle blew, confirming a 3-1 victory for the Somerset Lady Trojans in this opening fixture. A positive start to the season for Somerset, while PHC will be looking to regroup for their next challenge in what promises to be an exciting Women’s Division campaign.
