A new mural celebrating the life of Mrs. Peggy Wilson has been unveiled at the Sammy Wilson Central Zone Community Centre

A mural honouring the late Mrs. Peggy Wilson, a longtime community figure known for her dedication to young people, has been unveiled on the wall of the Sammy Wilson Central Zone Community Centre, facing Dellwood School.
The mural was created by artist Keile Rabain and brought about through the Bermuda Walls Initiative. A press conference was held on May 8, 2026, to mark the occasion.
Speaking at the event, Minister of Youth, Social Development and Seniors, Tinee Furbert said the ministry strongly supports initiatives that honour community role models and inspire future generations.
“Public art such as this strengthens our communities and keeps important stories alive,” she said.
“Mrs. Wilson began serving at the crosswalk in the early 1980s and remained a constant, caring presence over the years. Her love for
children extended far beyond that role, her home was always open, no child went without, and she ensured that those around her felt safe, supported, and valued.
“Many will remember her at Dellwood School, greeting everyone with a warm smile each morning, rain or shine, and even waking up early to prepare snacks for children in need. She gave freely of herself and embodied the true meaning of community.
“Though small in stature, she was a giant in character, and a true example of “it takes a village.”
“Today, as we bring awareness to this mural, may it serve as a lasting reminder of her kindness, her service, and her legacy.”
The minister thanked Mrs. Wilson’s family, artist Keile Rabain, and the Bermuda Walls Initiative for ensuring her legacy continues to inspire the community.
