Authorities are urging the public to slow down and drive responsibly on the island’s roads after several collisions were recorded last night.
The fourth serious incident of the evening took place on South Road, near the junction with White Sands Road, in Paget.
Police said it was a “damage only collision” involving a motorcar and a van.
Traffic was restricted to a single lane while the scene was processed.
A BPS spokesperson commented, quote: “This is the fourth road traffic collision in as many hours. That’s despite traffic checks being in place at locations across the island.
“Three of those collisions have resulted in serious injury.
“The BPS is once again reminding the public to slow down. Do not drive if you have been using mind altering substances. Put away your phone while driving.
Remember, the life you save, could well be your own.”
Earlier in the evening, two individuals were taken to hospital following a serious two-vehicle collision involving motorcycles on North Shore Road in Devonshire, near the Mid-Atlantic Boat Club.
In a separate incident on Dock Hill in Devonshire, it is understood a motorcycle rider and their pillion passenger collided with a wall and were ejected from the vehicle. Both individuals were taken to hospital.
Later in the night, after 10 pm, officers responded to a two vehicle collision involving a car and a motorcycle on Middle Road in the area of Evans Bay, Southampton. Police said the roadway “completely impassable due to significant wreckage and debris from a nearby natural stone wall.”
The driver of the car was taken to hospital for treatment of unknown injures. The motorcycle rider was unharmed.
Although traffic was brought to a standstill, the road later re-opened.
