Two European Tall Ships are turning heads in the east end.
The Christian Radich arrived at Penno’s Wharf on February 3, having sailed from St. Barts.
The Norwegian full-rigged ship docked here for unplanned repairs, and her next port of call will be Horta in the Azores.

Launched in 1937, the 205-foot Christian Radich featured in the 1958 documentary film Windjammer and also in the classic 1970s TV series The Onedin Line, set in 19th century Liverpool.
The sail training ship Thor Heyerdahl, built in 1930, is German registered and arrived this morning at St. George’s Marina. She had sailed from Havana, Cuba and – like the Christian Radich – her next port of call is Horta in the Azores. She is expected to leave Bermuda on Tuesday.

The 164-foot Thor Heyerdahl is a triple-masted topsail-schooner, with room on board for 32 students. She is named after the Norwegian adventurer famed for his Kon-Tiki expedition in 1947. Heyerdahl and five companions sailed a raft made of balsa logs over 4,300 miles across the Pacific Ocean.
Young sailors were seen climbing masts and attending to the rigging this morning, shortly after the ship berthed in St. George’s.
Next week, another tall ship will visit Bermuda.
The Alexander von Humboldt, a 205-foot three-masted barque from
Germany, will stop in Hamilton on Tuesday, en route from Havana to Horta.
