Police continue high-visibility efforts; Crimestoppers offers financial reward

Just under two weeks after the double homicide at Legends Bar in Somerset, police have made some arrests but two suspects remain at large.
Independent charity Crimestoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the conviction of each of those responsible or the seizure of a firearm.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Antoine Daniels said that, since the shooting – which claimed two lives and injured three others – police have maintained a high-visibility presence, partly to reduce retaliation.
Antoine Daniels, Assistant Police Commissioner stated: “Since the start of May, the initiation of this plan has led to 441 stop-and-searches, not including last night’s figures, which I haven’t received yet. We’ve executed 11 warrants at various residences and businesses around the island, including 10 directly linked to the double homicide. There have been over 50 moving violation tickets issued, and most significantly, there have been 27 arrests, three of which are directly related to the murder investigation. Two of those persons remain in police custody.”
Speaking further to these results, he added: “Knock on wood, we’ve kept firearms off the streets since the Legends incident, but that doesn’t mean these individuals won’t try to enact some retaliation, so we’re definitely maintaining high visibility. We have over 20 new recruits coming out next week, and we can’t wait to get more boots on the ground to help us out. We also have a firearms course underway, so we’ll have new firearms officers so we’re ready to roll out some new new frontline police initiatives to help with this type of behaviour. As summer comes, as people have more outdoor activities, we tend to get more of the bad behaviour.”
Again, Independent charity Crimestoppers is offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the conviction of each of those responsible or the seizure of a firearm.
