Full statement from the Ministry of Health:

The Ministry of Health is aware of the meningococcal (meningitis B) disease outbreak reported at the University of Kent and is monitoring developments through established public health channels. At this time, the risk to Bermuda remains low, but we recognise that many Bermudians study and reside in the United Kingdom, and that travel may increase over the Easter period.

Minister Wilson stated: “Our priority is always the health and safety of the Bermudian public. While the risk to Bermuda remains low, taking precautionary steps, especially for those abroad, helps ensure that our community stays protected.

The Ministry is currently reviewing the situation and will provide further guidance as needed.

In the interim, Bermudians who are studying or living in the UK are encouraged to follow the advice of local health authorities and to familiarise themselves with the signs and symptoms of meningococcal disease, which can include sudden fever, severe headache, neck stiffness, vomiting, sensitivity to light, confusion, or a rapidly developing rash.

Anyone experiencing these symptoms should seek immediate medical attention.
