Tyler Christopher, the light-middleweight boasting a perfect 10-0 record, is finding his own dominance has become his biggest hurdle, as meaningful bouts are increasingly difficult to secure in the UK boxing scene.
Christopher, 29, last dominated in March when he dropped veteran journeyman Jordan Grannum twice—a rare feat—en route to a landslide win. This formidable performance has made other good fighters wary of taking him on, slowing his progression with just one fight in 2024.
While he awaits a breakthrough test, Christopher is staying sharp with a four-rounder on Jon Pegg’s “Jingle Brawls” bill at the Holiday Inn, Birmingham Airport, this Sunday. His opponent, Jensen Irving from Swindon, is a focused challenge, known for his durability and for recently outpointing the previously unbeaten Zain Ali.
Christopher had previously missed a high-profile fight due to lacking funds for a necessary neuropsychological assessment. However, a plea for sponsorship was successful, and he is now backed by sponsors including Woi Bermuda, Flowerwall Bermuda, and Tikur Organic Farm Bermuda/Ghana.
“Having these sponsors has made this camp easier than other camps,” Christopher explained. This Sunday will be his 11th fight, and he concluded with high ambition: “2026 should be the year I break into a televised card against the top names in the super welterweight division.”
