Cruel blow for Hopkins as Belgian season looms

Bermudian cycling star Kaden Hopkins faces a race against time to save his debut season in Belgium after suffering a broken collarbone during a high-intensity training camp in Spain.

The 25-year-old was completing a “grueling” six-day stint in Calpe, where he and his Atom 6-Cycleur de Luxe teammates covered over 1,000 kilometers and 15,500 meters of elevation. However, the week ended in a medical emergency when Hopkins crashed on the final climb of the final day.

Currently hospitalized in Benidorm, Hopkins is expected to undergo surgery tomorrow. His father, Greg Hopkins, took to social media to highlight the “tough and dangerous” nature of the sport while praising the quick support from team staff and friends.

Despite the setback, the Bermudian remains optimistic. Having entered 2026 in “incredible shape” following a prolific 2025 campaign in Guadeloupe, he is no stranger to resilience. Just last year, he returned to the top of the podium only a week after a high-speed collision left him unconscious.
