Samuels strikes gold as Team Bermuda trials conclude

The high-stakes quest for a spot on Team Bermuda has reached a dramatic climax following the conclusion of the 2026 National Championship and Selection Trials. After a grueling 30-game test of skill and nerve, the island’s elite bowlers have finalized the rankings for a packed international calendar.

Entering the final session in second place, LeVinc Samuels produced a clinical performance to leapfrog his rivals and claim the title of 2026 National Champion. David Maycock, the frontrunner for much of the week, was unable to stave off the final charge and settled for silver, while Lamar Richardson completed the podium.

Beyond domestic silverware, the trials served as the primary gateway for major global assignments:

  • CAC Games (July/August): The top six finishers have earned their spots for the Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
  •

1st LeVinc Samuels – 6,059 – National Champion

2nd David Maycock – 5,953 – Silver Medal

3rd Lamar Richardson – 5,893 – Bronze Medal

4th Damien Mathews – 5,645 – CAC / IBF Selection

5th Carl Reid – 5,476 – CAC Selection

6th Michael Honore – 5,363

  • IBF World Cup (October): Samuels, Maycock, Richardson, and Mathews have secured the four coveted invitations to Munich, Germany.
  • Pan American Champion of Champions: The top two—Samuels and Maycock—will represent Bermuda in Costa Rica this autumn.

For Samuels and his teammates, the focus now shifts from domestic rivalry to international preparation as they look to carry this momentum onto the world stage.
