Tackles the cost of living, swaying constituents, and overcoming a 30-6 majority
“The timing of the election is actually quite revealing, because it’s just before the budget–and that is not coincidental, especially given that much of the promises that the Premier had made towards the end of last year. And then the budget process, that takes months and months and months. (Premier David Burt) got somewhere into that process and then decided to call the election.”
Jarion Richardson, leader of the opposition One Bermuda Alliance, believes that the Progressive Labour Party had a number of motives for calling the election when they did. However, Mr. Richardson says that he, and the OBA, welcome the announcement. In addition to rolling out a total of 36 candidates by the end of January, Mr. Richardson believes that his party can turn the tide on the PLP’s 30-6 majority. All that and more, above.
