The Bermuda Sandcastle Competition, which was set to take place this weekend, has been cancelled for 2026, but organizers say attention is now firmly focused on bringing the popular event back next year.
As plans turn toward 2027, organizers are also highlighting their partnership with the Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute, sharing how the collaboration came about and the role it will play in the future of the competition.
Kendal Trott spoke with Bermuda Sandcastle Competition organizer Hannah Emmerson and BUEI’s Traci Burgess, who shared more about the partnership, reflected on this year’s cancellation and provided an update on what the public can look forward to when the competition returns next year.
