Bermuda’s Sakari Famous has continued her impressive start to the 2026 indoor season, securing a clinical high jump victory at the JD Martin Invitational.
Competing at the Oklahoma-Mosier Indoor Track, the 26-year-old national record holder dominated the field to claim the gold medal with a top leap of 1.78m.
Famous demonstrated her veteran composure by entering the competition at 1.73m, which she cleared with ease on her first attempt. She maintained her perfect record at 1.78m, soaring over on her first try to effectively end the contest.
With the win already in the bag, Famous turned her sights to the 1.83m mark—a height that would have pushed her close to her personal best. While she was unable to clear the bar in three attempts, her performance marks another consistent outing as she builds toward the major outdoor championships later this summer.
This victory in Norman further solidifies Famous’s standing among the Caribbean’s elite, having consistently cleared the 1.80m threshold throughout her career. For the Bermudian star, Oklahoma proves to be a productive stepping stone on the road to further international honors.
