Bermuda’s first MakerSpace has opened at CedarBridge Academy.
The MakerSpace initiative, announced in the government’s 2023 Throne Speech, is designed to provide local creatives — including visual artists, musicians, dancers, and performers — free access to spaces where they can hone their craft and collaborate.
CedarBridge Academy serves as the first location for this programme, with facilities tailored to meet the needs of Bermuda’s creative community.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by Owen Darrell, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport.
Joining Minister Darrell was Diallo Rabain, Minister of Education, Senator Lindsay Simmons and CedarBridge Academy Principal Kenneth Caesar, along with a host of local artists and performers showcasing the space’s potential.
Minister Darrell said: “The MakerSpace is a work in progress, and this launch represents the first phase of an exciting journey … We are investing in the immense talent on our island, creating opportunities for collaboration, and providing a platform for expression.”
