Somerset Road blocked after crash

Motorists urged to avoid area as overturned propane truck forces diversions

Media Release:

Shortly before 5:30 am on Thursday, 20th August 2026, police and other first responders were dispatched to a report of a road traffic collision involving a motorcar and a propane gas truck on Somerset Road, just west of Beacon Hill.

Initial information suggests that the vehicles were travelling in opposite directions when they collided on the bend near the Mangrove Bay Post Office, resulting in the propane gas truck overturning onto its side.

Neither driver, both of whom are male, was reported to be injured.

The Bermuda Fire and Rescue Service has carried out an assessment of the gas truck as a precaution.

The roadway is currently completely blocked and traffic diversions are in effect at Beacon Hill Road and Mangrove Bay Road. Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternative routes until the collision scene has been cleared.
