Butterfield Bermuda Championship Recap

The eighth annual Butterfield Bermuda Championship delivered a thrilling finish at the renowned Port Royal Golf Course, with American Austin Smotherman claiming the title following a dramatic sudden-death playoff against Ireland’s Seamus Power.

Originally scheduled for October 22–25, the prestigious PGA TOUR event extended into Monday, October 26, after strong winds disrupted Sunday’s play.

The championship was ultimately decided on Port Royal’s iconic ocean-facing 16th hole, where Smotherman and Power battled through three playoff attempts. After matching pars on their first two visits, Smotherman secured victory with a steady par as Power dropped a shot, sealing the biggest win of Smotherman’s career.

Bermuda Broadcasting Company was proud to bring audiences comprehensive tournament coverage, including exclusive pre-tournament programming and live PGA TOUR action across ZFB TV 7, bbc.bm, and the Bermuda Today App.

Once again, the Butterfield Bermuda Championship showcased Bermuda on the international sporting stage, highlighting the island’s breathtaking scenery, world-class golf facilities, and reputation as a premier destination for major sporting events.
