Bermuda clinches double silver

Junior cyclists shine in opening time trials at Caribbean Championships

Media Release:

Bermuda’s young cyclists made a strong start to the 2026 Caribbean Junior Road Cycling Championships in Belize, winning two silver medals in Saturday’s individual time trials.

Dylan Eiselt secured silver in the 15-kilometre Juvenile Men’s event, completing the course in 21 minutes, 23.72 seconds. He finished 42.48 seconds behind Ahmaad Cherrington of Belize, who won in 20:41.24.

Eiselt’s teammate Jens Drea narrowly missed the podium, finishing fourth in 22:15.25. Matthew Briggs-Legall of Barbados claimed bronze in 21:56.91.

In the 20-kilometre Junior Men’s time trial, Jacob Wright earned Bermuda’s second silver medal with a time of 26:44.95. Ryan Thompson of the Cayman Islands won the regional title in 26:03.44, with Barbados rider Jonah Kelly taking bronze in 27:05.27.

Keon Stevens completed the Junior Men’s event in ninth place with a time of 33:06.94.

The result marks a second consecutive Caribbean Championship time-trial medal for Wright, who earned bronze in the Juvenile Men’s category during his championship debut in Barbados last year. Eiselt’s silver came in his first appearance at the regional competition.

“We are extremely proud of all four riders,” said Peter Dunne, President of the Bermuda Bicycle Association. “Dylan and Jacob delivered excellent rides to earn their silver medals, while Jens came very close to the podium in fourth. Keon showed determination to complete a demanding time trial. They represented Bermuda well, and the entire team can take confidence from today into the road races.”

The championships continue on Sunday with the road races. Wright and Stevens will represent Bermuda in the 93.6-kilometre Junior Men’s race, while Eiselt, Drea and Jonah MacGuinness will contest the 62.4-kilometre Juvenile Men’s event.

The Bermuda team is supported in Belize by Darren Glasford, Chequan Richardson and Peter Dunne.
