Bermuda’s junior cyclists earned silver and bronze medals in Sunday’s road races at the 2026 Caribbean Junior Road Cycling Championships in Belize.
Dylan Eiselt and Jens Drea secured places on the Juvenile Men’s podium following strong performances over the 62.4-kilometre course.
Eiselt completed the race in 1 hour, 58 minutes and 24 seconds to claim silver, finishing 1 minute and 39 seconds behind regional champion Ahmaad Cherrington of Belize.
Drea followed just 27 seconds behind Eiselt, earning bronze in 1:58:51.
Jonah MacGuinness showed determination after crashing during the race. He remounted and continued, crossing the finish line in tenth place in 2:07:37.
In the 93.6-kilometre Junior Men’s race, Jacob Wright and Keon Stevens were both involved in a crash on the opening lap.
Wright was able to continue and produced a determined ride to finish sixth in 2:54:17, just over three minutes behind the leading group.
Stevens was unable to continue following the crash but was reported to be okay.
“This was a challenging day of racing, and we are extremely proud of how the riders responded,” said Peter Dunne, President of the Bermuda Bicycle Association.
“Dylan and Jens delivered excellent performances to earn their places on the podium. Jonah and Jacob both showed tremendous resilience by getting back on their bikes after crashes and fighting their way to the finish. Keon was unfortunate not to be able to continue, but we are pleased that he is okay.”
The Bermuda team was supported in Belize by Darren Glasford, Chequan Richardson and Peter Dunne.
