Bermudian player Emma Simmons has claimed a superb bronze medal in the Women’s Singles 3.5 50+ division at the International Pickleball Tournament in Da Nang, Vietnam, capping a resilient run on the global stage.
Simmons displayed composure throughout the knockout stages, starting her medal charge with a clinical 1-0 quarter-final victory over Tong Ho-man Rebeee to secure a berth in the final four.
A tense, tactical semi-final followed against Prashanti Lakamsani, where Simmons was narrowly edged out 1-0, just shy of a place in the gold medal match.
Undeterred by the semi-final heartbreak, Simmons regrouped for the podium decider. Facing Kunpawee Aphichatabut in the bronze medal playoff, she produced her sharpest attacking display of the tournament, taking the match 21-15 to secure third place.
