A rumoured strike was avoided this morning for workers in the BDC 2000 group of companies, who were given a temporary reprieve to contentious payroll changes
LIVE Press Conference:

UPDATED 11am, Friday September 4:
A rumoured strike was avoided this morning for workers in the BDC 2000 group of companies, who were given a temporary reprieve to pay changes.
BDC2000 management has agreed to at least pause the impact of a payroll system change that would have seen workers take home one week’s wage for the whole month of September.
More than 100 workers from BGA, Pitt & Co, Phoenix stores and others gathered in Union Square this morning for an 8am meeting with the Bermuda Industrial Union.
Following that meeting, BIU President Chris Furbert said there would be further discussions between the union and BDC2000.
He added that union membership may have more than doubled among BGA employees in response to this matter.
