The annual Word of Life 5k returns on Saturday, 10 October 2026, featuring an inventive handicap challenge designed to test pacing intuition alongside raw foot speed.
Headlining this year’s competitive 5k run is a newly minted time-prediction contest. Entrants will submit their projected finishing time during registration, but race day brings a strict ban on watches, GPS monitors, and timing wearables of any kind. Without technological aids, competitors will have to rely entirely on internal rhythm and course feel.
Podium honours await the top three male and female runners who finish closest to their predicted marks, while traditional age-category awards will also be handed out to the fastest finishers.
Action gets under way early with a dedicated one-mile race for junior runners aged 12 and under at 08:00.
The morning’s main events then set off at 08:20, with the competitive 5k run, 5k competitive walk, and 5k non-competitive run and walk all tackling the course simultaneously.
