Bermuda’s Elan Daley breaks two national records in Toronto sweep

Bermudian captures four gold medals and hits World Championship standards at Toronto meet

Bermudian swimmer Elan Daley produced a sensational, record-shattering weekend in Canada, sweeping four events and lowering two national short-course marks at the 2026 Downtown Sprint Meet.

Competing at the University of Toronto, Daley proved untouchable across the sprint disciplines, capturing four gold medals and hitting World Short Course Championship qualifying standards in both the 100m freestyle and 100m butterfly.

Daley made headlines in the butterfly events, taking down records previously held by Olympian Emma Harvey. She shaved three-tenths off Harvey’s nine-year-old mark in the 50m butterfly with a 27.07-second splash, before touching the wall in 59.38 seconds in the 100m butterfly to eclipse Harvey’s 2023 standard of 59.45.

The Bermudian was equally dominant on freestyle duties. Daley stormed to victory in the 100m in 54.88 seconds for another World Championship qualifying time, before wrapping up an imperious four-gold haul by taking the 50m freestyle in a blistering 25.33 seconds.
