Roberts and Fraser brave sweltering Guyana heat to sweep regional titles
Bermudian archers Jaydon Roberts and Braeden Fraser held their nerve in sweltering conditions to capture a sensational double gold at the Caribbean Championships in Guyana.
Backing up their record-breaking displays in Friday’s qualification rounds, both competitors returned to the target line to cap off a flawless campaign by sweeping the titles in their respective divisions.
Roberts secured top honours in the senior Caribbean Archery Championship, navigating a demanding elimination bracket at 70 metres. Despite punishing heat and gusty stadium winds, the Bermudian maintained total composure through the head-to-head match-ups to take the title.
Moments later, Fraser completed the golden double by dominating the Caribbean Development Championship. The rising talent matched his compatriot’s precision under pressure, overcoming testing crosswinds at 40 metres to seal the crown.
The twin triumphs mark a historic clean sweep for Bermuda at the regional showpiece, converting record-setting qualifying scores into championship silverware on the international stage.
