Bermudian assistant referee Clinton Hayward was in the thick of the action as the Dominican Republic came from behind to defeat Trinidad & Tobago 2-1 in their Concacaf Nations League Group A clash.
FIFA-listed official Hayward formed part of the officiating team at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain for the dramatic encounter.
The hosts drew first blood on 37 minutes when midfielder Daniel Phillips sent the home support into raptures, rifling a sensational right-footed strike into the net from the edge of the box.
However, Trinidad & Tobago’s advantage lasted just five minutes. Heinz Mörschel unleashed a swerving long-range effort in the 42nd minute to level the scores before the interval.
Los Quisqueyanos completed the turnaround five minutes after the restart. Former Real Madrid striker Mariano Díaz found space inside the area and calmly slotted home a 50th-minute winner, leaving the visitors to withstand late pressure and secure all three points.
