Russell hits four in PHC rout

Captain Enrique Russell scored four goals as PHC Zebras dismantled Young Men’s Social Club 9-2 on an extraordinary opening night of Dudley Eve Trophy action at Bernard Park.

The tone was set within 60 seconds when Jeze Butterfield fired PHC ahead, before Russell doubled the lead three minutes later. By the 25th minute, Russell had struck again alongside efforts from Tristan Davis and Butterfield’s second, leaving Social Club reeling at 5-0 down inside half an hour.

Kimshun Smith pulled one back for Social Club, but an unfortunate own goal sent the Zebras into the break 6-1 up. Russell showed no mercy after the restart, completing his hat-trick on 57 minutes and tucking away his fourth on 69.

Bermuda international Zeiko Lewis snatched a late consolation for Social Club, only for Daniel Cook to rubber-stamp the rout in stoppage time.

The drama showed no signs of slowing in the evening’s parish derby, where Devonshire Colts edged Devonshire Cougars 4-3 in a breathless contest.

A quickfire first-half brace from Sonaj Mitchell and a 49th-minute strike from Jahzardae Samuels seemed to have Colts cruising at 3-0.

Yet Cougars launched a stirring fightback. Zari Simmons and veteran Domico Coddington clawed two back, before Liam Evans leveled the scores at 3-3 with just eight minutes left on the clock.

Just as the momentum swung toward Cougars, Colts delivered the final twist: Rahzir Jones struck in the 90th minute to snatch victory in a seven-goal classic.
