Football: A 10-player Haiti dominate U17 Team Bermuda
Bermuda’s hopes of qualifying for the under 17 women World Cup in the fall suffered another blow in their match against Haiti this afternoon. An action-packed first half saw the Haitians pull out to a 3 nil lead – a scoring spree kicked off by a penalty conceded by the Lady Gombey Warriors in the 14th minute. The Haitian goal keeper was booked in the 27th minute, but even with their opponents down to 10 players, Bermuda couldn’t capitalize on its numerical advantage. A second penalty conceded in the second half gave the Haitians a 4 nil lead. A last minute goal for Team Bermuda gave the Lady Gombey Warriors their first goal of the tournament. The final score in the match was Haiti 4 Bermuda one.
