Martin Weekes, the Assistant Commissioner of the Bermuda Police Service said there is a marked increase in arrests related to bladed article possession

Stop and search procedures are key to preventing violence amid a new trend of knife crimes.
This from Assistant Commissioner Martin Weekes.
Over the recent Easter Holiday weekend, police noticed a marked increase in seizures of bladed articles including machetes, knives and even, an axe.
Mr. Weekes said police have been tracking the trend over the past few months … and are following UK guidelines on enforcement.
Several of the offenders caught with a range of bladed weapons, AC Weekes said are carrying the weapons for protection – though this is often a misnomer.
