Charleston–Bermuda link welcomed by U.S. tourism officials

New BermudAir flight seen as gateway to stronger cultural exchange

Charleston executives are on island this week to celebrate their newly formed partnership with BermudAir.

The airline launched non-stop service to the South Carolina city recently, adding Charleston to its growing list of destinations.

We spoke with Helen Hill, Chair of the Charleston International Airport Authority and CEO of Explore Charleston, about what Bermuda travellers can expect from the historic southern city.

BermudAir’s Charleston flights operate weekly on Saturdays, with a flight time of just over two hours.

Beyond tourism, Ms. Hill said the partnership opens the door to academic and medical exchanges.

Ms Hill also extended an invitation to residents to a special edition of Marina Nights, happening tomorrow evening at the Hamilton Princess.

The event, offering a taste of Charleston, takes place at the 1609 Marina Bar from 5 to 10 pm.

According to a media release by BermudAir, it will feature:

  • A chance to celebrate BermudAir’s inaugural flight to Charleston
  • Brand takeaways and a complimentary Charleston signature welcome cocktail
  • An exciting opportunity to win one of two round-trip tickets to Charleston, as well as Sweetgrass baskets, courtesy of Explore Charleston
