
Bermudian junior golfer Lewis MacFarlane has completed his campaign at the prestigious International Optimist Junior Golf Tournament, held on the challenging Blue Monster Course at Trump Doral. Competing in the Boy’s 12 to 13 Age Group Division, MacFarlane finished T42nd after three rounds, carding a total of 30-over par.
The Blue Monster, known for its demanding layout with deep bunkers and water hazards, proved a significant test. MacFarlane’s opening round saw him post a 13-over par 85, including one birdie and seven pars amidst some tougher holes.
He showed resilience in his second round, significantly improving to shoot a 6-over par 78, his best of the tournament, featuring three birdies and seven pars. In his final round, MacFarlane carded an 11-over Par 83.
While the final standing may not reflect his full potential, the experience of competing on a world-renowned course against top international junior talent will be invaluable for MacFarlane’s development. His participation provides crucial exposure and learning opportunities as he continues his journey in competitive golf.
