Cleveland County defeated cup holders Bailey’s Bay by 61 runs in a dramatic and incident-filled second round clash at Lord’s. The victory means Cleveland will now defend the trophy in the final round against St. David’s Cricket Club.

After winning the toss and electing to field, Bailey’s Bay bowlers were effective in restricting the challengers. Cleveland County were bowled out for 140, with opener Treadwell Gibbons top-scoring with 31. The pick of the Bailey’s Bay bowlers was Derrick Brangman, who finished with superb figures of four wickets for just 33 runs.

In reply, the chase by Bailey’s Bay got off to a difficult start. They struggled to build momentum and were eventually bowled out for a meagre 79, falling well short of their target. Tre Manders, who had taken a stunning catch in the field, was the top scorer with 36. Shakai Darrell was the star for Cleveland County, claiming four wickets for 23 runs to lead his team to victory.

The match was not without controversy. There was a significant hold-up after a catch given out against Delray Rawlins was disputed by the batsman. From the umpire’s view, a clean catch was taken, and after a lengthy delay, order was restored, allowing Cleveland to seal their well-deserved victory.
