Head coach Khano Smith led his Rhode Island FC side to a commanding 5-0 rout of the Tampa Bay Rowdies in their regular-season home finale, continuing their excellent run of form in the USL Championship.
WSL Frustration
In the Barclays Women’s Super League, Aston Villa Women, featuring assistant coach Shaun Goater, were held to a goalless draw by Leicester City. Despite dominating chances in the first half at Villa Park, the hosts couldn’t find a breakthrough.
Women’s Lower League Action
- Goalkeeper coach Dashun Cooper celebrated as his QPR Women’s team secured a solid 3-1 victory on the road against Cambridge United Women.
- Kenni Thompson’s AFC Bournemouth Women maintained their unbeaten start to the FA Women’s National League season, earning a hard-fought draw with Plymouth.
- In the NWSL, both Leilanni Nesbeth’s Chicago Stars and Mia Fishel’s Seattle Reign secured 1-1 draws.
- Elsewhere, K’Shaela Burch-Waldron’s Sutton United also drew 1-1, while Jahni Simmons and Coventry Sphinx Ladies FC were knocked out of the Birmingham FA Challenge Cup, losing 7-1 to Aston Villa Academy.
