Bermudian distance runner Ryan Outerbridge has started his cross country season in commanding fashion, dominating the Men’s 8K Individual race at the Hopkinton Cross Country Festival in New Hampshire.
Competing against a competitive field that featured runners from top US collegiate programmes, Outerbridge powered across the finish line at the Hopkinton Fairgrounds with a winning time of 25 minutes and 21.9 seconds.
His time was nearly five seconds clear of the nearest competitor, securing a convincing victory that provides a significant confidence boost for his autumn campaign.
Outerbridge ran as a representative of the Hopkinton Runners Society, putting him ahead of collegiate rivals from institutions including Babson, UAlbany, and Franklin Pierce in the early-season test.
The victory sets a high standard for Outerbridge as he prepares for the core track and distance season ahead.
