Mercersburg Academy Women’s Cross Country secured the championship title at the Mid-Atlantic Prep League (MAPL) Cross Country Championships, powered by a sensational individual performance from Gabriella Cechini.
Running the challenging Peddie Golf Club course, Cechini delivered a brilliant effort in the Women’s 5,000 Metres Varsity race, crossing the finish line in a superb second place overall with a time of 18 minutes, 23.1 seconds (18:23.1). Her high finish was instrumental in the team’s dominant display. The Mercersburg Women’s team ultimately claimed the coveted MAPL crown, accumulating a convincing winning total of 50 points.
In the Men’s 5,000 Metres Varsity event, Joseph Cechini also represented the Academy strongly, clocking 19:17.42 to finish 39th. His contribution helped the Mercersburg Academy Men’s team secure a respectable fourth place overall in the team standings, tallying 46 points. The day’s results mark a highly successful championship for Mercersburg Academy.
