A man reported missing in a kayak was found today several miles south of the island, according to the Bermuda Martime Operations Centre.

Police had reported that 57-year-old Hyoung Park, a South Korean national, was last seen at 11.30am yesterday onboarding a kayak at The Reefs hotel beach. He reportedly paddled in an easterly direction along the South Shore coastline.

The search resumed this morning after being suspended last night due to high winds.

Today, BMOC said, “US Coast Guard C-130 reports sighting missing kayak 26 miles South of Gibbs Hill and orbiting kayak position.

“RCC Bermuda diverting nearby tanker AKTORAS to aircraft position for recovery of survivor.”

More details to follow.
