City launches window decorating contest

Hamilton – December 4th, 2025

The City of Hamilton is pleased to announce that public voting for the 2025 City Christmas Window Decorating Contest will open tomorrow, Friday, December 5 at 9:00am.

Seventeen City businesses have embraced the festive spirit this year, transforming their storefronts with creative and eye-catching Christmas displays. The competition features a variety of prizes, including a City-sponsored donation to a charity selected by the overall winner.

This year’s line-up of participating stores includes:

  6. Glaze
  7. Gosling’s Limited
  8. Heel Quik
  9. KFC Operations Ltd

  11. My Closet Boutique
  12. Orange Bay Company
  13. Sleeper’s Paradise
  14. SPEXX Eyecare
  15. The Flower Bar
  16. The Island Shop
  17. Waterfront Man

“This contest is about more than decorations,” said the City’s Marketing Coordinator, Talisa McGlashan. “It’s about building a festive spirit that draws people into the City and reminds them why Hamilton is the heart of Bermuda, especially during the holiday season. Every window tells a story, and together those stories create a welcoming atmosphere that encourages people to shop local, explore, and celebrate together. This year’s entries are really first-class, from traditional displays to more themed displays and everything in between!”

There are two categories –

· Best Christmas Window 2025 (selected by a panel of industry-relevant judges)

· People’s Choice (selected by the general public through a City-hosted voting process)

Each participating business can only enter one window into the contest and must display the window decorating participation notice issued by the City of Hamilton in their window before the opening of voting.

The prizes are as follows:

Best Christmas Window 2025

· $1,000 BELCO Gift Voucher

· $1,000 Donation to the Charity of the Winner’s Choice

· A Video Advertisement produced by the City of Hamilton

· A Social Media Feature

· A Dedicated Media Release from the City

People’s Choice

· $500 Masters Gift Certificate

· $500 Donation to the Charity of the Winner’s Choice

· A Social Media Feature

· A Dedicated Media Release from the City

Businesses must be located within City limits to be eligible for entry into the contest.

To cast your vote for the People’s Choice Award, either scan the barcode displayed in any participating store window or cast your vote here with just one click!

Voting and judging will take place between Friday, December 5th – Monday, December 15th, 2025.

The winners will be announced on Tuesday, December 16th. Businesses must display the window decorating participation notice issued by the City of Hamilton in their window before the opening of voting.

Melinda DeCosta

Melinda DeCosta is an Interior Designer with 20 years of experience, specialising in corporate office environments and, more recently, residential design. Her passion for creating functional, inspiring spaces guides her approach, ensuring each project meets client needs and reflects their vision.

Kelly-Anne Smith

With over 18 years of experience working with children across a variety of childcare environments, Kelly-Anne Smith has found that guiding and nurturing young minds is more than her profession; it is her passion. In 2020, she developed KANS, a nature-based experiential learning programme that offers immersive opportunities for children to explore, connect, and grow in what she calls “the best classroom there is”: nature. She is committed to creating environments that foster healing, imagination, and meaningful connections between children and the natural world.

Nzingha Ming

Bermuda Society of Arts Director Nzingha Ming is a visionary cultural leader with over a decade of executive experience shaping Bermuda’s artistic landscape. She successfully manages complex annual programming and provides expert curatorial direction. Her work is distinguished by high-impact initiatives like the landmark ‘Bredrin’ exhibition, a major catalyst for diversity and empowerment within the community. As a trusted advisor, mentor, and relied upon for her perspective and strategic insight, Nzingha is dedicated to the advancement of artistic careers and promoting Bermuda’s culture on both the local and international stage.

Tyson Flood

Tyson Flood is an energetic content creator, event host, and one half of the powerhouse brand BHFTV. From commercial projects to documentary storytelling, Ty is known for crafting visuals that elevate local voices and showcase technical excellence. Whether he’s filming with his partner Tyson or bringing the vibes to local events, his mission is to spotlight Bermudian culture with style. Dedicated to growing the island’s creative industry and telling our stories, he brings his signature “BLESS” everywhere he goes.
