Neil Paynter has officially returned to the leadership of the St. George’s Cricket Club after being asked to resume the role by the membership and committee following the resignation of Misheal Paynter earlier this year.
Paynter was nominated for the presidency, accepted, and ran unopposed, confirming his return to the historic club’s helm.
The veteran leader, who previously served as the club’s president for a record period, emphasized that his dedication never wavered despite his official absence. “My time away from the club, I really wasn’t away from the club, to be honest,” Paynter stated. He clarified that his time away was only from the official management committee structure, adding, “The only thing I was away from was actually serving on the management committee”.
Looking ahead, Paynter outlined a focus on collaborative leadership, stating his goal is “to work alongside the current management team and members”. His aim is to guide the team as they continue to do “the great work for our club,” providing stability and experienced leadership.
