Middle Road to face rolling lane closures through July

BELCO trenching works to resume in Southampton on January 10

The Ministry of Public Works and Environment is advising the motoring public of two upcoming lane closures to accommodate long-term trenching and infrastructure maintenance works.

Middle Road, Southampton – Beginning Saturday, 10 January 2026

Rolling single-lane closures will take place along Middle Road, Southampton, starting near Sea Swept Farms and continuing westward. These closures are necessary to facilitate BELCO trenching works and will commence on Saturday, 10 January 2026.

The trenching will proceed in phases until July 2026, affecting multiple sections of Middle Road and the nearby railway trail. Working hours will be weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Traffic controls will be managed by Intelligent Trenching representatives using stop-and-go signs and traffic lights.

Happy Valley Road, Hamilton – Monday, 26 January to Monday, 16 February 2026

A single-lane closure will be in effect on the eastbound lane of Happy Valley Road near King Street to accommodate wall repair works. This closure will begin on Monday, 26 January 2026, and remain in place until Monday, 16 February 2026.

Working hours will be from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. Traffic management will be under the direction of D&J Excavating & Landscaping Services Ltd., using a combination of traffic lights and stop-and-go signage.

Motorists are urged to allow extra time for travel and to follow all posted signage and instructions from work crews. The Ministry thanks the public for its patience and cooperation while these essential works are carried out.
