Young Bermudians take control of the skies

Four earn air traffic control licences after rigorous training

A milestone was reached for aviation in the country today after four young Bermudians were recognised for earning certifications as qualified air traffic control specialists.

Dejon Robinson, Hannah Fletcher, Nakiiah Robinson Baker and X-onna Stevens (absent) were today presented with their licences after successfully completing rigorous training and beating out more than 100 other applicants.

All four graduates range in age from 22 to 31.

Fostering the next pipeline of Bermudian talent in the aviation industry is a top priority for the Bermuda Airport Authority, which says it aims to have a full slate of trained and experienced Bermudians by the time the airport’s project agreement with Skyport concludes.
